COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Cycling today named Jeff Pierce the Director of Elite Athletics, Road and Track. Pierce will oversee USA Cycling’s road and track cycling programs from the development level through the USA Cycling National Team.
In his new position, Pierce will be responsible for helping American cyclists reach the highest levels of professional road and track cycling. With many athletes competing on both the road and track, Pierce will also work to integrate USA Cycling’s programs across disciplines, allowing the programs to mutually benefit each other. The integration will also aid individual riders who compete in both disciplines.
“We are extremely honored and excited to have Jeff joining our team,” said Scott Schnitzspahn, USA Cycling Vice President of Elite Athletics. “In addition to his amazing career as a professional cyclist, pioneering the way for today’s professional riders, Jeff has led our elite athletics program in the past, served for many years on our volunteer selection committee, coached some of our top riders, and has been an integral part of our recent talent identification camps. He also had a very successful corporate management career. His background is unique and remarkably well-suited to serving America’s most talented road and track cyclists.”

Pierce returns to USA Cycling after spending recent years in corporate marketing and sales. He previously served as USA Cycling’s Vice President, Athletics.
During his professional road racing career, Pierce became the third American to win a stage at the Tour de France with his victory in the final stage on the Champs-Élysées in 1987. Over his 22-years racing, he competed in seven Grand Tours and collected several wins in road races around the United States. Pierce was a member of the U.S. national team, and he was the No. 1-ranked rider in the country in 1985.
