We're still in full swing with our National Championships, as we're now in the midst of the "Month of the Masters." The TD Update is coming to you live from Augusta, GA, where we have kicked off Masters & Para-cycling Road Nationals. Sunny skies, hot temperatures, and humidity greet the riders as they begin their quest for a Stars and Stripes jersey. This follows suit with our last championship, where we had Masters Track Nationals earlier this month at the Rock Hill Velodrome in South Carolina.
Commissaire Commentaries Podcast
For those who may have missed it, we now have a podcast series, Commissaire Commentaries, hosted by Ryan Fu and Marcie Weiss. The goal of the podcast is to increase awareness of bicycle race officials, spark interest in officiating, share best practices, and build a stronger officiating community.
The podcasts are available on USA Cycling’s YouTube channel, as well as links directly from our Officials webinar page. If you are interested in being a guest or have an idea for an upcoming podcast, please email usac.officials.podcast@gmail.com directly.
Officials Webinars
If you were unable to attend the webinars we held earlier this year, the recorded versions are available on the Officials webinar page, as well as USA Cycling’s YouTube channel.
Look for additional webinars to be scheduled later this year.
Cyclo-cross National Assignments
Sorry for the delay on releasing the national assignments for cyclocross. While the goal was by the end of July, priorities shifted a bit internally. These will continue to roll out over the next few weeks.
Motor C Course
We’ve had a lot of interest in the dates of the next Motor C course. I’m happy to announce the last course for 2023 has been scheduled for Saturday, September 23. This course is a full day from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Mountain Time. The cost to attend the course is $50 and an MVR is required prior to receiving your Motor Ref designation. Please email your USAC license number to officials@usacycling.org to receive additional information.
New Officials and Motor Referees
The list of new officials continues to grow! Everyone is excited to start contributing to their new roles but may need some guidance on how to get started in their state or local association. If you are the officials' assigner in your area, please reach out and welcome them to the community. You may find the complete list at the link below. Officials highlighted are those that completed their requirements since the last TD Update.
