How It Works

Ariake Urban Sports Park

Bicycle Motocross (BMX) is raced on dirt tracks with rollers, jumps, an

d turns to challenge their skills. BMX bikes are smaller than normal bicycles because the riders never sit down and need to be nimble on the bike.

BMX Racing will take place at the Ariake Urban Sports Park in Ariake, Koto-Ku, Tokyo. This course has been constructed in the Ariake district, which is located in the stunning waterfront area close to the Athletes' Village.

The USA has continued to show its dominance in BMX Racing since the sport made its Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games. Connor Fields won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics becoming the first American to do so. The same year, two-time World Champion Alise Willoughby grabbed the silver. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Mike Day took home the silver medal along with Danny Robinson securing the bronze. On the women’s side, Jill Kintner also stood on the podium with a bronze medal.
